About Blossom

Blossom and Pixie are the two only remaining siblings of a litter that had the most miserable start in life. At just a few weeks old, the sisters were abandoned outside the shelter gates in a cardboard box. Three of their siblings found loving homes in Cyprus, one in the UK, one tragically passed away soon after their rescue. Blossom and Pixie are growing up in the shelter and the next flight has to be their ticket out of there, otherwise they’re getting dangerously close to the age and size where they’ll just be overlooked for months on end.

Blossom and Pixie are around six months old (DOB 15.07.2024) and are German Shepherd mix pups. They are both absolutely beautiful and growing into really wonderful characters. Raised with kindness and care since their arrival, Blossom and Pixie have grown to be trusting with people and enjoy being handled. They are playful, cheeky, and full of puppy energy, ready to bring a whole lot of fun and a little bit of mischief into any home! As the pups are still only babies and at such an inquisitive stage of development, prospective adopters should be prepared for some unavoidable puppy mayhem!

Of the pups, Blossom is the more confident. She is amazing with people and very goofy. She is very comfortable being handled, cuddled, and kissed, and she loves being in the arms of someone, soaking up all the love and attention. Pixie is a bit more apprehensive, and needs a little reassurance. She watches her sister, and the other dogs, from the sideline to work out whether she’s brave enough to get involved, and nine times out of ten she is, but she would benefit from a more patient adopter to help coax her out of her shell a bit more.

Both of the girls are clumsy with their silly paws and so wiggly sometimes it’s as if they don’t have spines. They love playing together, and with the other pups they share a compound with too, and they’d definitely enjoy a home with another dog although we don’t feel it’s a dealbreaker for either as long as they’re given time and understanding to adjust. Pixie’s confidence might benefit from having a playmate, whereas we think Blossom would be quite happy as the only resident dog as she’s more relaxed around humans and would probably make friends with a burglar.

Shepherd types are known for their intelligence, loyalty, and strong family orientation. These qualities make the girls highly trainable and ideal for families committed to their continued socialisation and training. As they’re still very young, ongoing introductory training will help them develop into well-balanced adult dogs. Because they’re such smart dogs, without training and enrichment they will become bored, so it’s important that their new families can offer them both mental and physical stimulation.

The girls are very sweet, cuddly and friendly with people and get along well with other dogs. They could thrive in households with children aged 7 or older, but prospective adopters should carefully consider the energy and dedication needed to balance young children and a growing puppy, as it can be a lot!

The girls will do best in homes with a moderately active lifestyle and someone who has the time to dedicate to their training. All of them would be happiest in homes with a garden as they grow into their clumsy paws and let off some steam in their own secure space. They’re not yet lead trained, so walks will be a very new and initially overwhelming experience for them, but we’re sure with consistency and routine they will soon be making strides of progress.

If you think you could offer a home to Pixie or Blossom we would love to hear from you! They are currently based in Cyprus and have a clean bill of health. They are ready to travel once they find their forever homes.

Please note, any mention of breed is nothing more than an educated guess based on what we know about the dog, their appearance, behaviour, and common breeds in their country of origin. We can never guarantee breed specifics, nor can we confirm the exact age of our dogs, unless they were born in our care. Age estimations are made by our vets based on the development of the dog, their general health and energy, and assessing their teeth.
