About Misty

This pretty girl is Misty, a one year old hound/shepherd type mix who was found on the streets of Cyprus. She’s a lovely girl, falling on the smaller side of medium, and she’s very patiently waiting for a forever home to call her own.

Misty loves being around people and always waits her turn, even though you can tell how excited she is. She sits politely by the fence and gazes out until someone notices her, and then gently slots her nose through the bars for attention. She won’t compete with her kennel mates for a fuss and if it’s all getting a bit chaotic, she will sit and wait for things to calm down a little. She’s a very intuitive girl and reads situations very well for a young dog.

When Misty first arrived at the shelter she would sit and cry for human company. She was so confused and scared, and it took her a while to settle in. Now, she’s more comfortable and is very happy in the company of other dogs. She shares her kennel with many canine friends and gets along with them without any issues. She’s a natural at fitting into a group, neither boisterous nor withdrawn, simply happy and content. She’s a very balanced dog and often has a very calming presence.

Misty would be more than happy to have a canine companion in the new home, but she also appears to be happy in her own company and would likely be fine as the only resident dog. She is quietly confident and would welcome all the fuss and attention of being an only child, but would benefit from continued socialisation with other dogs and might enjoy group walks or day-care from time to time. She can be very playful and does enjoy the interactions she has with the other shelter pups.

The perfect home for Misty would be on the outskirts of a city or in a semi-rural setting, where she can enjoy the outdoors without the stress of navigating busy, high-traffic areas. Misty hasn’t been tested with cats, but her calm and gentle nature suggests she could be a great fit for a family with children, ideally aged 5+. She also shows promise at picking up new things quickly, and would enjoy some 1-2-1 focus and introductory training. This will also help to build a strong bond between her and her new family. She’s a clever girl so is bound to learn fast!

Misty is currently based in Cyprus and has a clean bill of health. She is ready to travel once she finds her forever home.
