About Sky
Sky was once a beloved neighbourhood dog in Bosnia, cared for by local families and adored by the children he followed to school each day. He would wait patiently outside until the school day ended, and then he’d accompany them home, trotting along happily with his tail wagging a mile a minute. His friendly, gentle nature earned him a place in the hearts of the locals, and he never posed a problem to anyone.
Unfortunately, Sky’s life took an unfortunate turn when the local dog catcher picked him up and took him to the public pound. For many dogs, this would have been the end of the road, but Sky’s story is heart-warmingly different. The entire village came together and demanded his release to a local shelter, ensuring he would be taken much better care of. Thanks to their compassion, Sky gets another chance, and now he’s ready to find a forever home of his own. Obviously when we heard this story we knew we had to try and help him.
So, please meet Sky, the gentle and devoted soul whose story gives us a little hope that perhaps the mentality is indeed beginning to change towards stray dogs overseas. Now in the safe hands of the shelter, Sky really is the definition of a good boy. He is friendly with everyone he meets, gets along wonderfully with other dogs, and avoids any sort of conflict. His submissive nature means he’s happiest in the company of sociable and easy-going dogs who will match his gentle temperament. His kind, loving, and loyal personality makes him a favourite among volunteers, and yet he’s not had a single adoption enquiry since he arrived.
Only around a year old, Sky is still a young and adaptable dog. He absolutely adores children and would fit beautifully into a family setting. He’s been tested with cats and, true to his sweet nature, is very avoidant of them—if hissed at or pawed, he quickly retreats and keeps his distance, showing his respect for their space. He could definitely co-exist alongside confident resident cats, and would probably end up befriending them if they showed an interest in him.
Sky loves going out for walks and has shown great lead manners. He jumps at the chance to explore and enjoy the world around him, but what he loves more than anything else is being close to people. He is super sociable, cuddly and warms up quickly to new people.
We don’t think Sky has ever experienced the comfort of a proper home before, so settling into a household will be a big change. However, with his adaptable, trusting and people oriented nature, along with the loving support of a patient family, we believe he will adjust beautifully and flourish. He would be best suited to a home outside of the city, and would be happiest with direct access to a secure garden. If you’re looking for a gentle, loving companion who will bring warmth and joy to your life, Sky is ready to meet you.
Sky is currently based in Bosnia and has a clean bill of health. He is ready to travel once he finds his forever home.
Please note, any mention of breed is nothing more than an educated guess based on what we know about the dog, their appearance, behaviour, and common breeds in their country of origin. We can never guarantee breed specifics, nor can we confirm the exact age of our dogs, unless they were born in our care. Age estimations are made by our vets based on the development of the dog, their general health and energy, and assessing their teeth.
