Marley’s story
Marley came into our family in September 2020; after having seen him on Eve’s Instagram stories I knew I needed to help him. Being an American Pitbull people aren’t exactly queuing up to adopt these dogs, nor are they able to travel to the UK; but he had such a sad and kind look in his eyes that it made my decision to help very easy.
We already successfully adopted Ziggy from Cyprus with Eve’s help years earlier and wanted to open our homes to another dog.
Obviously there were quite a few things to worry about; Marley didn’t exactly have the best of starts in life. He was used as a bait dog and was covered in cuts when they took him in. We had two dogs already and two teenagers at home; was he going to fit in?
Marley is my first Pitbull ever and he couldn’t be a better ambassador to his breed; he’s kind and loving, he loves his humans and is the most chill dog in our house. We absolutely love and adore him and he has completed our family.
We had a few bumps in the road; he hurt his leg in the snow one day and we had to take scans and x-rays to discover that his whole front half of his body was covered in small metal pellets from an airgun. He was successfully operated and they removed a few of the pellets and he’s in perfect health now.
He loves to chill on the sofa, snore loudly and eat peanut butter. He also loves his car rides and has to have his head out of the window whenever possible. Marley comes with us every where and he even comes with us to Switzerland, where he loves to run in the snow and sleep in front of the fire place.
It's amazing how well he has fitted into our crazy home; where we now have four rescue dogs, and we often have foster dogs from China who stay with us for a couple of weeks, but Marley has been so easy going and he really loves his pack of ladies.
He has been a great example for his breed so far; people are very judgy and cross the road whenever they see us; but we have had quite a few people after they get to know Marley say what an amazing dog he is; so I hope in his way he’s helping to change the perception of these dogs.
We will be eternally grateful to Eve and the amazing people at Underdog for bringing Marley into our lives; because he’s really home and we all love him so much.
