Simba’s story

April 12th 2019. My friend Amber (@GoDoggyLondon) sent me an Instagram post of a puppy. His name was Chance. I read that this little pup and his siblings were found dumped in a box just weeks old and my heart melted.

I had been considering getting a dog for some time. I work with dogs so of course I love them but that aside I was keen for my children (12 & 7) to experience growing up with a dog as part of the family. Adopting a rescue was something I had always thought of doing but never considered adopting from overseas.

After finding Eve's page I came across a familiar face. It was Chance's brother, Farlowe! Chance had been reserved already but as fate would have it little Farlowe's (now Simba) adopters pulled out last minute. Once I had seen his face I couldn't think of anything else. I knew then that this boy was our boy.

Fast forward just 4 weeks later, it was May 4th and I couldn't quite believe my luck. There he was. From Cyprus to London. The cutest little 5 month old nugget I ever did see. 

Simba has been amazing. He's changed our world in more ways than I thought possible. He is unique in his looks with his curly tail and black spotted tongue, creamy lab like fur and cute underbite. He is more special though for the way he is with my youngest son who has Autism. Seeing the comfort he brings on those tougher days is a joy. Simba's silly, cheeky personality makes us laugh so much. He really is THE best medicine.

The whole process from home check via video call through to his arrival was so straight forward and a whole lot less daunting then you would imagine. The Underdog team are some of the most awesome humans on the planet. I would whole heartedly recommend adopting a rescue from abroad. Best decision ever made for us.
