Tait’s story
Tait, affectionately known as Taito, occasionally dubbed Potato or Po, has earned her own special place in our hearts as the bug-eyed little alien we didn't know we needed.
When we first decided to bring a rescue dog into our lives, it seemed like a straightforward decision. Little did we know that Taito would turn our world upside down in the best possible way.
Taito, with her endearing quirks, is a bundle of nerves when it comes to the great outdoors and new faces. But once she grants you entry into her world, you're greeted with boundless affection and her charming goofiness. Dare to cease petting her, and you'll quickly receive a pointy paw to your face, complete with a scrunchy little nose and a gentle (or sometimes not so gentle) bop, as if to say, "Don't stop, human!" Navigating life with a nervous dog like Taito was a learning curve. It led me to dive headfirst into understanding dog behaviour and anxiety, especially as my other dog began to display similar signs. It was then when things really began to change, I began getting more involved with Underdog and working with rescue dogs. I owe it all to Taito.
Taito loves two things most in this world, firstly her beauty sleep - you will hear her huff and puff until she has found the perfect spot to curl up in. And secondly, her doggy companions, particularly her brother Koba. Wrestling is their favourite pastime, and it's astounding how she, despite her nervous disposition, excels in showing Koba the ropes of play fighting. Her melodious voice is a constant source of amusement, and she has an uncanny talent for swiping dirty washing.
To her family and friends, she's nothing short of a beloved treasure, often affectionately referred to as "the favourite" (though the cat may beg to differ). After all, we aren't all perfect, and Taito's endearing quirks make her all the more special in our eyes.
We love you Po!
