Teddy
Teddy
My name is: Teddy
I came from: Cyprus
Now I live in: Scotland
My favourite things are: Snuggles, hiking, yak chews, chasing the ball, having a good nosey out the window, visiting my extended family in Ireland and also meeting up for play dates with my foster sister who is also an Underdog from Cyprus who got adopted close by to me. I was lucky to help my owner foster her for a few weeks before she moved into her furever home!

Teddy’s story
If you ever have any concerns or doubts about adopting, I recommend speaking with Eve and Leanne as they have been amazing throughout my whole experience with adopting Teddy.
Teddy actually wasn’t advertised on the site, so I was totally unaware of him and I had actually applied to adopt another dog. The dog in question luckily found their forever home and Eve had emailed me to say unfortunately my application wasn’t successful with that pup, but within the same email she had mentioned that going by my answers on the adoption form she had found me a match, and that match was Teddy.
Without sounding cheesy I can’t explain or put into words how perfect a match Teddy is and how he is an amazing fit into my lifestyle which benefits him greatly as well as me. Be an open book on your forms because the Underdog team truly take everything into consideration to find your perfect dog and it truly worked for me.
I won’t lie, at first I was nervous adopting quite a young pup. Teddy was five months old when I picked him up. He was full of puppy energy and mischief, and an incredible chewer! Yes, adopting a puppy is stressful but incredibly worth it the same. Dedication to training them pays off big time. I honestly feel so lucky to have been matched with Teddy, he brings so much joy into my life and I’d be truly lost without him. I know that’s cheesy, but so true!
People often worry that rescuing a dog from abroad will cause that dog to have severe anxiety or issues traveling again in the future and that’s not the case. Most dogs will be nervous or anxious at first but who wouldn’t be when traveling to a new place. With Teddy, the travel experience didn’t affect him, in fact he’s the total opposite as he loves to travel and get in the car! He especially gets excited when we drive down to the Stena port as he knows he will get lots of attention from the staff, plus he knows he’s about to see his grand-paw-rents and his fave golden retriever cousin in Ireland.
This would be my second time experiencing a rescue dog. My family rescued a three year old Bernese from a local charity in 2011 and then I adopted Teddy in May 2021. I can honestly say rescues have the biggest hearts and all the love to give. They need time to settle in and adjust but I can honestly say you will not regret rescuing a dog. Be patient and allow them to adjust and you will gain the biggest reward in having an amazing trusting companion.
If you rescue from Underdog International they will help find you that perfect companion. They help with any concerns and provide great advice and support at every stage, as well as checking up after your dog arrives with you.
