About Alec
Alec was rescued from the streets of Delhi as a two month old puppy after he was attacked by a group of stray dogs. He suffered a leg injury and had to be removed from the streets as there was no mother or littermates around, he was completely alone. Now, almost four years later, Alec is still waiting for a forever home. He is happy, healthy and full of life, and he can’t wait to meet his new family.
Alec is a human oriented dog and a complete people pleaser. He loves spending time with people more than anything and has a very sociable personality. He’s not easily frightened by sudden sounds or movements, and is always excited to meet new people. If you’re not giving him quite enough attention he will paw you very gently to let you know that he’d like a fuss.
Alec has a confident and outdoorsy nature and could keep up with a busy pace of life. He is looking for an energetic lifestyle with a family who spend a lot of time outside, and although we feel that he could probably live in a more urban location we feel he would be at his happiest in the countryside where he can run and explore to his heart’s content. He would love a bit of freedom and the opportunity to enjoy some adventures. He also needs a home with direct access to a secure garden.
Alec has been working with a trainer on his lead walking and is making good progress. He now walks really nicely and is focusing on not getting too over-excited when he sees other people. His pulling has reduced a lot and he’s much easier to manage on the lead now. Alec is also food motivated, which will really benefit his continued training. He loves to present his paw for you to hold, and always has the sweetest little look of satisfaction on his face when you tell him he’s a good boy!
Alec doesn’t get along the best with other male dogs, but is great with females. He has been around other dogs for the majority of his life and hasn’t really caused any issues, but it’s obvious he’s more interested in people than in other dogs. He could definitely be the only resident dog in the household as he doesn’t rely on other dogs for confidence or companionship. If he was homed with another dog we would recommend females only.
Alec doesn’t have any extensive experience with children and we’re therefore looking for a home with older children (10+) so as not to overwhelm him. We think he would be a bit uncertain around very young children, but older children who can respect his space but also play with him and give him lots of attention would be perfect.
Given the opportunity, continued training, and patience, we think Alec could make a fantastic companion for a more mature family looking for a friend to join them on long walks, enjoy a snuggle on the sofa, and who has a bit of past experience with rescue dogs. He wouldn’t want to be left alone for extended periods of time, so someone who works from home or is retired would be ideal for Alec. He is eager to have a human to call his very own and we’re confident he will make the most devoted friend!
Alec is currently based in India and has a clean bill of health. He is ready to travel once he finds his forever home.
Please note, any mention of breed is nothing more than an educated guess based on what we know about the dog, their appearance, behaviour, and common breeds in their country of origin. We can never guarantee breed specifics, nor can we confirm the exact age of our dogs, unless they were born in our care. Age estimations are made by our vets based on the development of the dog, their general health and energy, and assessing their teeth.
