About Alice

This absolute angel is Alice. She’s a beautiful hound mix, estimated to be around five years old, who’s really not had the best life so far but is ready to find the home she deserves. When Alice first arrived at the shelter, she was emaciated and subdued, with pressure sores from sleeping on hard surfaces and nails that were overgrown due to a lack of exercise. She had spent years chained outside, likely giving birth to multiple litters, with no one to care for or comfort her.

During her first few days in the shelter she was clearly starving and so stressed. She devoured her first meals as if she had never been properly fed, then slept like a log as if making up for lost time. However, that version of Alice is now long in the past. She has now been at the shelter for six months and is a completely different dog thanks to the care she has received.

Alice has transformed into a gentle, easygoing, and loving soul. Just by looking at the change in her body language you can see she’s more relaxed, her eyes brighter, and her face always just looks so happy. She adores people and is happiest when she’s making new friends. Despite her challenging past, Alice has been very forgiving and resilient. She has so much love to give and readily seeks out affection, leaning into cuddles and soaking up any attention offered. And it’s hard not to shower her with fuss because she’s just so darn cute!

Alice is sociable and gets along well with other dogs, though she’d be quite content as the only dog in a home. She’s also great with children and is very tolerant, making her a lovely companion for families. She is also disinterested on cats, so could slot into a multi-pet household as long as the cats were able to cope with a canine newcomer.

Although Alice is a hound mix (we think maybe an Istrian hound mix) her pace is more relaxed than you might expect. She’s perfectly suited to a home that enjoys a laidback lifestyle, leisurely walks, and pottering about in the garden. True to her breed, Alice does love to follow her nose, so walks with her might be quite ‘stop-and-start’ as she sniffs out every interesting scent!

Alice’s affectionate and snuggly nature can’t help but win everyone over, and she will be over the moon to finally experience a soft bed and lovely home comforts. Lots of strokes and cosy cuddles on the sofa are bound to become her new favourite thing, and who can blame her after a life of being shunned and ignored.

Alice is ready to leave Bosnia behind and start her new life with a family who can give her the love she deserves. If you’re looking for a kind, resilient, and affectionate companion who will cherish every moment spent by your side, Alice is the one. She’s waiting to meet the family who will show her what it truly means to be home.

Alice is currently based in Bosnia and has a clean bill of health. She is ready to travel once she finds her forever home.

Please note, any mention of breed is nothing more than an educated guess based on what we know about the dog, their appearance, behaviour, and common breeds in their country of origin. We can never guarantee breed specifics, nor can we confirm the exact age of our dogs, unless they were born in our care. Age estimations are made by our vets based on the development of the dog, their general health and energy, and assessing their teeth.
