About Ava

Ava arrived in the shelter a few months ago and heartbreakingly blended into the vast number of similar looking black dogs that we have so seamlessly that we didn’t realise she was a new addition for a few weeks. Now we’ve become acquainted, we would love to help this girl find the wonderful forever home she deserves - she is fantastic!

Ava is an athletic build with a slim frame and lots of stamina. She’s around 18 months old we think, and is unlikely to get any bigger. She is very good when mixing with other dogs and appears to be well socialised and well versed in reading canine body language. She is very non-confrontational and seems to get along well with most dogs. At the moment she shares her kennel with a fairly boisterous Labrador mix who often shoulder barges her out of the way, but she’s never phased.

Ava definitely doesn’t depend on the company of other dogs and could be homed on her own. She is very people oriented and very keen to please. With some focus on training we think she would really excel as she’s so switched on and clever. She is also energetic and would be a perfect candidate for someone looking for a dog they could potentially train up to be a running partner, or enjoy long hikes with.

Ava enjoys being outside of loves rolling around in the grass and sniffing in the dirt. She is calm when leaving the shelter to go on a little walk, whereas some of the other dogs get very unnerved by the noise as they walk past all the other residents. Ava holds her own and doesn’t pay any attention to anyone, she just trots along on the lead politely. She pulls from excitement a little bit at the start of a walk, and if you stop and chat to someone she will be patient and wait by your feet but you can tell she’s excited to go and explore!

Ava would be best suited to a home outside of the city, she would love access to a garden, and she would welcome an active pace of life. She can live with or without other dogs, and although she’s not had extensive exposure to young children we feel that she would be suitable for a home with kids aged 6+ based on her very friendly nature. Ava is super affectionate and will be overjoyed to finally find a home where she has more 1-2-1 focus and attention.

Ava is currently based in Cyprus and has a clean bill of health. She is ready to travel once she finds her forever home.

Please note, any mention of breed is nothing more than an educated guess based on what we know about the dog, their appearance, behaviour, and common breeds in their country of origin. We can never guarantee breed specifics, nor can we confirm the exact age of our dogs, unless they were born in our care. Age estimations are made by our vets based on the development of the dog, their general health and energy, and assessing their teeth.
