About Kodi
Kodi is a lively and enthusiastic hound mix, estimated to be around three to four years old, who has sadly spent over a year in a municipal pound after being found as a stray. With no interest shown in him so far, Kodi is now more than ready to leave kennel life behind and begin the next chapter in a home that can offer him the space, activity and guidance he desperately needs.
Life in confinement has been incredibly frustrating for a dog like Kodi. He is lean, athletic and full of potential, but after such a long period with limited stimulation, he is bursting with energy and longing for the chance to run, explore and simply be a dog again. Every walk is a highlight, and he loves nothing more than finally getting to stretch his legs. Unsurprisingly, going back into his kennel at the end of the walk is something he finds difficult.
Kodi is an intelligent dog and he will thrive in a home where his physical and mental needs are met. He is highly food motivated, which is a great tool when it comes to training, but due to the restrictions of his current environment he has had very limited opportunity to practise the kind of structure and boundaries he would benefit from. He needs a family who can commit to continuing his training and offer him consistency and patience as he settles into home life.
He would be best suited to a confident and active adopter who has some experience with high energy breeds and understands the importance of time, patience and training. Kodi is affectionate and people oriented, but he is bouncy and full of beans, so a calm and structured home environment will help him learn to regulate his energy and adapt at his own pace.
Kodi would thrive in a semi-rural home with access to a secure garden where he can burn off some of his energy between walks. He could live with another dog, ideally a friendly and well-matched female, but would not be suitable for a home with cats. Due to his energy levels, a home with children aged ten and above would be most appropriate.
With the right family, Kodi has the potential to become a devoted companion. He just needs a chance. A home that will offer him understanding, routine and the opportunity to finally live the full and stimulating life is all heโs been waiting for.
