About Lady

Meet Lady! She is one of our oldest dogs available for adoption at the moment. At around seven years old, she has spent nearly her entire life tethered to a chain in a backyard, with barely any attention, love, or proper care. Through the bitter Bosnian winters, she would curl up tightly in her wooden kennel all by herself, and she’s never had the luxury of experiencing the warmth of a soft bed or the simple comforts of a true home.

Recently, Lady's story took a turn when her owners decided they no longer wanted her, as if the dog minding her own business in the backyard was such a burden to them. They planned to take her to a public pound, where her life would have become even more bleak, likely ending tragically in an overcrowded and under-resourced environment. Fortunately, one of the volunteers from our partner shelter in Bosnia intervened and persuaded the owners to surrender Lady to the shelter instead. Now safe and surrounded by kindness, Lady is ready to find her forever home.

Lady is a medium sized dog, roughly the size of a Labrador or Retriever. Despite her tough past and the lack of kindness she endured, she has an incredibly resilient and forgiving nature. She has shown the volunteers nothing but love. She genuinely has the kindest soul and whether she’s enjoying a fuss from the children, interacting with other dogs, or seeking comfort from adults, Lady’s trusting and affectionate nature really shine through.

She is now looking for a quiet, relaxed, and understanding home. Lady needs a family who will give her the patience and space to adapt to a conventional home life. Having only known the outdoors, she will require time to adjust to indoor comforts and daily routines, so her new family should be ready to go at her pace. A semi-rural home with direct access to a garden would suit her best, and a home with a steady pace of life.

Lady has discovered the joy of walks and has taken to lead training wonderfully. She’d love leisurely long walks in the countryside and really perks up when she’s spending time outdoors. Her newfound freedom has brought out a more playful and goofy side to her, but she ultimately remains a laidback and easy-going old soul. She would thrive in a home that can offer her a relaxed pace of life, and would adore being part of a family who can finally offer her affection and kindness she deserves.

If you can provide Lady with the loving, peaceful environment where she can finally experience what it means to be a part of the family, she will without a doubt offer you nothing but devotion in return. Lady’s journey hasn’t been easy, and her adjustment to a forever home may take time, but she deserves a second chance and we would love to help her find it.

Lady is currently based in Bosnia and has a clean bill of health. She is ready to travel once she finds her forever home.
