About Nina
Nina is a gorgeous girl that often blends into the background. Found as a stray during hunting season in Cyprus, Nina arrived at the shelter frightened and painfully thin. After just a few weeks of care and kindness, she blossomed into a completely different dog and now bounds over excitedly to greet us at the shelter fence with her tail wagging and her eyes so much brighter than before.
Nina is the perfect example of the dogs so often overlooked in Cyprus - a beautiful black hound mix. Tragically, hundreds if not thousands of these gentle souls are abandoned every year due to the throwaway attitude of local hunters. Yet they have the most loyal, loving natures, and Nina is no exception, she’s an absolute gem.
At around two years old, Nina is a friendly, sociable, and affectionate girl. She adores people and is really gentle and easygoing with other dogs too. Whether she's curling up for a cuddle, leaning in for an ear massage, or rolling about in the dirt, Nina’s sweet and silly personality really shines through.
Nina loves basking in the sunshine, trying her hardest to sit pretty for a treat, or squeezing herself into the smallest of gaps, often snuggling between your back and the wall to feel safe and as close to you as possible (which is the cutest thing ever). Her laidback nature makes her a joy to have around and she’s no trouble at the shelter, mixing so well with other dogs and happily friends with everyone.
Nina would thrive in a home outside of the city with a family who enjoy the outdoors and lead a moderately active lifestyle. Being a hound, she loves exploring the world nose-first and would relish long walks in the countryside followed by cosy cuddles on the sofa. Nina would be content as the only dog in her new home, but she’d also enjoy the company of a canine friend. She could also happily live with children, so would be a lovely companion for a young family looking for a dog to join them. Nina is a joy to be around and will only blossom further in the security of a loving forever home. We’ll be very envious of whoever gets to call her theirs!
Nina is currently based in Cyprus and has a clean bill of health. She is ready to travel once she finds her forever home.
