About Otto
Otto is a large, brindle coated boy who was found as a stray and brought to the shelter after being checked for a microchip. Of course, he didn’t have one. No one came forward to claim him, but it was immediately clear that Otto is a dog who enjoys human company and takes comfort in being close to people. Hopefully, he’s not endured too much unkindness in his life.
Otto is a gentle, steady natured dog who loves people. He leans in for affection and enjoys a fuss from anyone who will show him an ounce of kindness. Otto loves cuddles and calmly seeks out attention from anyone, strangers or friends! He’s a silly, yet charming boy, and his calm, quiet and affectionate nature is impossible not to fall in love with. He loves giving his paw, going in for ‘the big lean’, and burying his head into your arms. He is SO sweet.
Otto is currently sharing his kennel with another male dog, Parker, who is more energetic than he is. Otto takes this in his stride and doesn’t seem fazed by Parker’s liveliness, which shows he has a tolerant and adaptable temperament. He could happily live with another dog, or as the only dog in the home, as long as he gets to spend lots of time with people.
Otto may be large dog, but he’s really quite easy to handle and is always gentle with those around him. He enjoys time outdoors, so would benefit from a home with a garden and access to some good walking routes nearby. He isn’t a high energy dog, but he does enjoy getting out and about and would do well in a home where there’s a balance of calm and activity.
Because of his size, Otto would be best suited to a home with children aged 8+, unless younger children are confident and used to being around larger dogs. He’s a very good boy, and we can’t see him being anything but loving and tolerant around kids, but it can be easy for young children to feel nervous around a bigger breed.
Otto is a lovely dog to spend time with. He has a quiet, unassuming way about him and would make a loyal and easygoing companion in the right home. He’s ready to start his next chapter with a family who’ll enjoy his calm presence and offer him a bit of routine, companionship and comfort.
