About Yuka
Yuka was rescued as a stray after she’d been spotted living in the fields surrounding the shelter. The sound and smell of other dogs often attracts other strays looking for food. Thankfully Yuka got more than just a meal and found herself finally being offered safety. She’d clearly been a stray for a while and was very shy and subdued to start with, and was also feeling anaemic due to the ticks that had latched onto her. Now, a few months later, Yuka is a different dog and has melted the hearts of everyone at the shelter.
Yuka is estimated to be around four years old. She’s a very adaptable and friendly little dog and gets along with all the other shelter residents regardless of their size and personality. She is very sociable and seems very accustomed to being in the company of other dogs, so she could definitely be adopted alongside a settled resident dog in her new home. If she was the only dog in the household we think she would cope but her integration and settling in phase would definitely take more time. Other dogs provide her with extra confidence and reassurance, and she loves to play and snuggle with them.
Yuka is a sweetheart and once she feels comfortable around you she’s so affectionate and gentle. She loves to play with other dogs and she gets really excited to go out for walks too. In a short time she’s picked up lead training really well and has observed how other dogs behave too before replicating it. She is a lovely little thing and just needs a little time to come out of her shell and warm up to strangers. Once she does it’s simply impossible not to fall in love with her.
Yuka is kind and gentle towards everyone she meets, and is also very sweet with children. As she can be a little shy to start with we would recommend a home with children aged 7+ simply so she doesn’t feel overwhelmed. There’s nothing but kindness in this little dog’s heart and she would make someone so happy.
Yuka’s ideal home would be in a semi-rural environment where it’s quieter and calm, where she can enjoy a relaxed lifestyle with leisurely walks and have access to her own little garden. She would love to have a canine companion but in the right home she could manage as the only resident dog. She is going to be a joy and we’re very jealous of whoever gets to welcome her into their family!
Yuka is currently based in Cyprus and has a clean bill of health. She is ready to travel once she finds her forever home.
Please note, any mention of breed is nothing more than an educated guess based on what we know about the dog, their appearance, behaviour, and common breeds in their country of origin. We can never guarantee breed specifics, nor can we confirm the exact age of our dogs, unless they were born in our care. Age estimations are made by our vets based on the development of the dog, their general health and energy, and assessing their teeth.
