Peanut
Peanut
My name is: Peanut (PB)
I came from: China
Now I live in: Twickenham
My favourite things are: Cottage cheese, chasing squirrels, cuddles all day, going to work at the yoga studio, my toy sheep (it looks like me!), paddle boarding, running in circles at whippet speed and puppachinos!
Peanut’s story
My adorable bundle of white fluff made his epic journey from Harbin in China to Twickenham at the end of January 2020. China was in the initial stages of going into lockdown and I was a nervous wreck, praying his flights would be on time and he wouldn't end up stuck. Peanut’s flight was one of the last out of China for the dogs and although we didn't know it at the time if hadn’t been on it, it would have been a very long wait, as some of his fellow slaughterhouse survivors found out.
Peanut settled with me immediately and is the most affectionate loyal lockdown partner I could have ever hoped for. The first year of his life is very unknown except that he ended up in the meat industry. At the beginning loud noises, bigger dogs, bath time and any man with glasses triggered shaking, barking and hiding on my lap but with a calm lifestyle, slow introductions and love from everyone he meets, we are now paddling in the river, running rings around our family Springer Spaniel and only barking at the occasional man!
Peanut is famous in our area and @yogahaven Richmond where I am a Yoga teacher. It was through yogahaven and the amazing Sam Chow that I found out about Underdog International and now there’s a few Underdogs in the yogahaven teaching team! I was able to hold a yoga charity class to help fund Peanut’s journey and was overwhelmed with so much kindness and generosity.
Peanut is very at home on a yoga mat demonstrating the perfect downward facing dog and entertaining my online students. His many nicknames include PB, Monkeynut and Crazy as he tears around with the speed of a whippet. His energy and obvious happiness makes me smile every single day.
It is safe to say I have fallen in love with my mini poodle and thanks to the angels at Slaughterhouse Survivors and Underdog International we are now living our best lives.
