About Cooper

Poor Cooper was tied up and left outside the kennels in August 2024, right in the middle of the summer. Unfortunately, summer is rife for dog dumping as people want to go on holiday, and apparently a holiday is more important than keeping your family pet…

Anyway, Cooper is now in our care and we are determined that he will find a home who gives him the love, care and commitment that he truly deserves. He is around a year old and is a bigger sized boy with lanky legs and a goofy nature. When he first comes bounding out of his kennel you have to brace yourself for impact, but after an initial cuddle Cooper is actually super responsive to commands and calms down quickly. He is just desperate for love and attention.

As he’s only a young adolescent, Cooper needs a home that are prepared to give him the time, training and mental stimulation that he’s not had before. He is so trainable, he sits beautifully and could definitely learn more in a calm environment with some 1-2-1 focus. He really wants to be told he’s a good boy and he looks so proud with every perfect ‘sit’ he does. He very likely has some Shepherd in him which contributes to his eagerness to please. He is also ridiculously handsome and has the most beautiful smile, as you can see.

Cooper currently shares his kennel with Jack, and the pair of them get along well. Sometimes Cooper can be a bit over-exuberant in his style of play and gets a little carried away, but on the whole he is very sociable and good with other dogs. He doesn’t mean to be boisterous, and he does respond well to redirection. He enjoys chasing after toys and scatter feeding games where he gets to use his nose, so all of these tools can be used as positive reinforcement in his training.

Cooper is looking for a home outside of the city with an active family. He really just wants to be involved, and isn’t the type of dog you can leave to his own devices for hours. He wants to be a part of the action, join in for adventures and come for long walks with you. He’s be an awesome exploring partner and has the stamina to keep up for hours! He would also benefit from a home with a garden preferably, and simply due to his size and energy we’re looking for a home without cats and with children aged 10+. Black dogs are renowned for taking longer to find homes, but when the right person comes along for Cooper, they’re going to have a real gem on their hands.

Cooper is currently based in Cyprus and has a clean bill of health. He is ready to travel once he finds his forever home.
