About Era
Era and her brother, Ernesto were found living in a little village in Cyprus where they were desperately searching for food. They were very skinny and were even eating sawdust to try and curb their hunger. It’s likely they were lost or abandoned hunting dog offspring who didn’t come from a loving, caring home and were probably left to their own devices - the story for many of the hounds that come into our care.
The lady who found Era and Ernesto took the time to gain their trust so she was able to care for them. She took them in and made sure there was no shortage of food for them so they were able to regain strength. Unfortunately, she was unable to keep them and so we’re hoping we can find the pups the loving homes they’re looking for.
The siblings are now in the care of the local pound where they’re doing really well. Era is more shy than her brother, and is taking a little longer to gain confidence and trust in new people, but she is great with other dogs and absolutely loves to play. She socialises nicely and enjoys the company of her brother but also of other dogs too, so we think she would welcome a home where she has a resident playmate to learn from. Having another dog around would likely improve Era’s confidence and help her feel a bit more settled.
That said, the presence of another dog isn’t compulsory as long as Era’s new family are patient and understanding. She has a super sweet, gentle and sensitive nature, and once she bonds with people she knows she is a dream. She just needs a bit of time. With this in mind, we’re looking for a home with slightly older children (8+) for Era so she doesn’t get too overwhelmed. She has never responded negatively to kids, but would find little toddlers running about very nerve-wracking.
Era would be best suited to a home outside of the city where it’s a little calmer, and where she has access to parks and nice places to walk nearby. She would be happier with direct access to a garden, and would prefer to be away from busy roads and lots of traffic. Era has not been tested with cats, but as mentioned she can definitely live alongside other dogs.
Era is currently based in Cyprus and has a clean bill of health. She is ready to travel once she finds her forever home.
Please note, any mention of breed is nothing more than an educated guess based on what we know about the dog, their appearance, behaviour, and common breeds in their country of origin. We can never guarantee breed specifics, nor can we confirm the exact age of our dogs, unless they were born in our care. Age estimations are made by our vets based on the development of the dog, their general health and energy, and assessing their teeth.
