About Ernesto
Ernesto and his sister, Era, were found living in a little village in Cyprus where they were desperately searching for food. They were very skinny and were even eating sawdust to try and curb their hunger. It’s likely they were lost or abandoned hunting dog offspring who didn’t come from a loving, caring home and were probably left to their own devices - the story for many of the hounds that come into our care.
The lady who found Ernesto and Era took the time to gain their trust so she was able to care for them. She took them in and made sure there was no shortage of food for them so they were able to regain strength. Unfortunately, she was unable to keep them and so we’re hoping we can find the pups the loving homes they’re looking for.
The siblings are now in the care of the local pound where they’re doing really well. Ernesto is definitely the more confident of the two and is a happy go lucky soul who always loves to be involved in everything. He is a very sweet natured boy who is always eager to make new friends, be it human or dogs, and he has a very friendly, brave nature.
Ernesto will be a stocky, solid dog as an adult, but we think he’ll probably lack height. As he can be quite energetic when he gets excited he can sometimes forget about his surroundings and spatial awareness, so we’re looking for a home with slightly older children who won’t be intimidated by his playfulness and energy. He means absolutely no harm, but at the end of the day he is a puppy.
Ernesto is very sociable with other dogs and would be more than happy to have a resident pup in his new home to make friends with. Because he is a confident, people-oriented dog, he would also be fine on his own, but would benefit from the opportunity to socialise and interact with other dogs, either on walks or in a day-care situation. He hasn’t been tested with cats, but would likely avoid any forthright cat that told him who was in charge as he doesn’t look for trouble.
Ernesto could adapt to most household situations but would welcome a moderately active lifestyle and a home with access to a garden. As a pup, he needs continued training and is so keen to please so would work his hardest to be told he’s a good boy. He’s always wagging his tail and will bring so much joy into a household!
Ernesto is currently based in Cyprus and has a clean bill of health. He is ready to travel once he finds his forever home.
Please note, any mention of breed is nothing more than an educated guess based on what we know about the dog, their appearance, behaviour, and common breeds in their country of origin. We can never guarantee breed specifics, nor can we confirm the exact age of our dogs, unless they were born in our care. Age estimations are made by our vets based on the development of the dog, their general health and energy, and assessing their teeth.
