About Evan
Evan is a beautiful two year old Labrador mix with a gorgeous white coat and a huge heart. He was found as a stray at the beginning of April and brought into the shelter, but sadly, no one has come forward to claim him. Despite his time on the streets, Evan arrived in good condition. He’s healthy, athletic and with a trusting, friendly nature that suggests he’s been treated with kindness at some point in his life.
Evan is medium to large in size and full of that classic Labrador charm. He’s affectionate, playful and a little bit (or sometimes a lot!) silly. He has a gentle, goofy personality and loves nothing more than leaning in for a cuddle or a good neck massage. He is eager to please and very food motivated, which will definitely help with his ongoing training in a new home. He has already mastered ‘sit’ and is working hard on ‘paw’! He responds really well to praise and a few treats, you can tell he really loves being told he’s a good boy!
At the shelter, Evan shares his kennel with a very subdued male dog and has shown that he can adjust to different temperaments well. He respects his kennelmate’s space when needed, but also seeks him out for company and warmth at night. Evan gets along well with other dogs but is confident enough around people to thrive as the only dog in a household too, as he doesn’t appear to depend on their company.
He would be best suited to a moderately active home with access to a secure garden and plenty of opportunities to enjoy time outdoors. Evan absolutely loves being outside, especially in the sunshine, and would really enjoy living near open fields or nature trails where he can explore, stretch his legs and take in the world. His lead manners are improving with every walk, and he’s showing all the signs of becoming a very well behaved walking companion with continued guidance.
Because of his size and occasional bursts of enthusiasm, especially when he gets excited, we feel Evan would be best placed in a home with children aged 8+, unless they’re comfortable with bigger dogs. We’re quite sure there’s nothing but kindness in Evan’s heart, but a confident household who understand that big dogs often underestimate their size would suit him best.
Evan is a soft hearted, sociable and devoted dog who just wants to be loved. With a little time and consistent training, he has all the potential to become a loyal, affectionate best friend, and we know he’ll thrive given the opportunity.
