About Lily
Lily currently resides in a very small municipal pound which until recently, has had no volunteers. The dogs are cleaned and fed once a day by municipal workers, but it’s a very poor quality of life for them to endure. Thankfully, we have recently partnered with a lovely group of girls who have started volunteering at the pound, which means the dogs finally have a chance at finding happiness.
Lily is a sweet, gentle and shy Pointer mix who is estimated to be around two years old. She has now spent over half of her life in the pound. Now, she’s getting used to going out for walks and socialising with other dogs and new people after a year spent confined to her kennel all by herself. She’s doing really well, but she is a reserved girl who needs time to emerge from her shell and gain confidence.
Lily takes a bit of encouragement to walk on the lead but when she gets going she walks really nicely and enjoys being outside. Sometimes mid-walk she will get a little anxious and shut down. She can often be coaxed however by the company of another more confident dog who can show her that everything is okay. Lily would definitely adjust to a home setting more quickly if she had another dog to guide her and provide reassurance.
Although she is a timid dog, when you spend time with Lily you can really see her start to relax in your company after you’ve shown her some kindness, offered her a few treats and let her come to you at her own pace. She definitely needs an understanding, calm and patient home who can give her the time and space she needs to decompress and acclimatise at her own speed. A slightly older couple with fewer comings and goings in their home, with a relaxed atmosphere could potentially be the type of setting where she’d flourish. The most important thing is to understand that gaining her trust will take time, but she is such a good girl with a gentle, well-meaning soul.
Lily would be best suited to a semi-rural home with a garden, a laidback lifestyle, and an adult-only household. She’s never shown any adverse behaviour to children but right now, living with kids would be too overwhelming for her. She has not been tested with cats, but would prefer to live alongside a resident dog who can show her the ropes.
Lily is currently based in Cyprus and has a clean bill of health. She is ready to travel once she finds her forever home.
