About Lucia

Lucia was rescued from a horrible public shelter in Bosnia where many dogs end up after they’re taken from the streets by local dog catchers. So many dogs never get a second chance after they’re taken to public shelters, but Lucia was one of the lucky ones.

Lucia is just under a year old and is a gorgeous Shepherd type mix. She currently weighs around 11kg at the moment, and as an adult we don’t expect to her to grow to be anything more than a typical medium sized dog, and a beautiful one at that! She has the most beautiful colourings and markings - she’s quite the stunner.

Lucia is a smart and active breed mix, and she would be happiest in a home with a moderately energetic lifestyle who enjoy spending time outdoors and are based semi-rurally. City life wouldn’t be Lucia’s preference as she prefers being outdoors, exploring, following her nose and investigating the nature around her. She would also be happiest with a garden.

Lucia has settled into shelter life without too much trouble, and she’s made friends with plenty of the other resident dogs. She likes hanging out with them, she shares her space well, and she’s happy going for group walks with them and the volunteers when they come to visit. She could live alongside another dog, but is also confident enough to thrive on her own. We don’t think she’d hesitate to lap up the 1-2-1 attention!

Lucia is a fun-loving and intelligent young dog and she would do really well with some introductory training. Shepherds are such loyal dogs and they’re very keen to please. Lucia is no different. She would love enrichment games as much as physical exercise, and we don’t doubt that she will pick up new commands and tricks really quickly with positive reinforcement training. She’s a clever pup!

Lucia hasn’t had much exposure to cats so we would recommend she is homed without cats, or with a family who are confident introducing a new dog to a confident resident cat. She is friendly with children however and we’d feel comfortable homing her to a family with kids aged 7+. In the right home there is no doubt that Lucia will be a fantastic addition.

Lucia is currently based in Bosnia and has a clean bill of health. She is ready to travel once she finds her forever home.
