About Mella
Mella and her sister were found on the street as tiny babies by a local animal lover in Bosnia and spent a few weeks in her home whilst they were vaccinated. Unfortunately she wasn’t able to foster them long term, and the pups were later transferred to one of the small scale partner shelters we work with in Sarajevo.
Mella adapted to a foster home really well, so being in the shelter now is a bit of a shock. She is just under four months old and will be ready to travel from February, so her new family need to be prepared for the training, socialisation and commitment a young puppy requires.
Mella is fantastic with people and loves being with anyone who shows her a little kindness. She is trusting, playful and very cuddly. She can live alongside other dogs, and has also co-existed with a resident cat before as well, although confident cats would be preferred considering Mella’s young and inquisitive age.
Based on appearances, we think Mella probably has husky in her mix, and will therefore require a stimulating home that can commit to an active lifestyle and training. As she gets older she will enjoy a more energetic lifestyle and would love to become a part of an outdoorsy, adventurous family. She does also love her snuggles and fuss though, so cuddles on the sofa at the end of a long day will be just as important as lovely long walks.
Mella is clever and given some 1-2-1 focus she will pick up new things really quickly. She responds well to positive reinforcement and is both keen to please and eager to learn. She’s currently picking up basic lead training and doing really well so far!
Mella would be best suited to a home outside of the city, or even semi-rurally would be lovely for her. Preferably, she would have a garden of her own to play in, alongside an active lifestyle and as mentioned, someone committed to her training and socialisation. With a little time and routine, we think Mella is going to be a fantasic companion. She adores people and will be such a great addition to a home, and there’s no doubt people will fall in love with that gorgeous face of hers straight away!
Mella is currently based in Bosnia and has a clean bill of health. She is ready to travel from February.
