About Mike

Mike is one of our smallest shelter residents. He’s around 18 months old and is a small sized terrier mix with a big heart. He was brought in by the dog warden after being found as a stray and sadly no one came to claim him as their own, so now he’s looking for a new family to take him home and make him the centre of their world.

After spending some time out on the streets, Mike has already faced his fair share of challenges, but he’s made impressive strides during his time at the shelter. We have noticed he can be a little sensitive to change and takes a little time to adjust to new situations and people. While he may be a bit apprehensive with strangers at first, his confidence has grown considerably thanks to the support and care he’s received from the shelter staff and visiting volunteers.

Despite his occasional shyness, Mike gravitated towards our Head of Adoptions upon their first meeting and showed us just how affectionate and loving he can be once he forms a connection. He’s a cuddle enthusiast who seeks attention and thrives on love and fuss from those he trusts. He was quick to lap up all the strokes and cuddles he could get, but was also happy to share the fuss with the other dogs and didn’t show any signs of possessiveness or jealousy, which is a great sign!

Mike avoids confrontation and likes to keep himself to himself. He prefers to blend into the group and isn’t one of the big personalities, until you get some 1-2-1 time with him that is and then he’s definitely the main character! He currently shares his kennel with both males and females of different sizes and ages, and has no issues sharing his space.

Mike would do best in a home without young children, as sudden and unpredictable movements might be a bit overwhelming for him at the moment. He would thrive in a quieter environment outside of the city, ideally with access to a small, secure garden where he can feel safe and enjoy a bit of outdoor time. A household where he can receive lots of focus, attention, and plenty of cuddles would be his dream come true!

If you’re looking for a gentle, loving companion who will blossom with your patience and affection, Mike might just be the perfect addition to your family. He may be little, but he will bring a whole lot of joy and love into your home given the chance, and we can’t wait to see him get the second chance he deserves.

Mike is currently based in Cyprus and has a clean bill of health. He is ready to travel once he finds his forever home.
