About Teddy

Teddy arrived in the shelter before the summer and he was so tiny that we couldn’t believe our eyes! At around a year old and just a teeny 5kg, we knew he would struggle in the shelter so we found him a foster home in the UK. He is now living in Chichester and has settled so well into his foster home. He has made so much progress over the past few weeks and he is absolutely ready to find his forever home now.

Teddy is most likely a mix of Kokoni Spaniel and Chihuahua. He is so small that the harness his foster family had for him when he arrived was too big, and they had to use a cat harness! Since then, he’s gained a little weight and is looking much less like a shelter pup. Everyone who’s met Teddy since he arrived in the UK has been completely charmed by him, which is testament to not only his cute appearance, but also his lovely temperament.

As far as Teddy is concerned, humans are the best thing in the world. He loves nothing more than being shown affection, and he will also show it back. He is super loving, cuddly and loyal, and completely devoted to anyone who shows him an ounce of attention. He is equally as good with men as he is with women, which isn’t always the case with rescue pups, but this little guy trusts everyone! He will take any opportunity to snuggle up next to you, or right on top of you, and has zero understanding of spatial awareness. But when you’re 5kg and as cute as he is, it doesn’t really matter.

Alongside his love of humans, Teddy also has a great relationship with food and responds really well to treats as positive reinforcement. This will definitely help with his ongoing training, and he is super keen to please too so loves to learn new things. He also enjoys playing tug of war with his toys and with the other dogs in the household, and enjoys canine company. That said, he would probably be quite happy as the only dog in the family as long as he had plenty of human company during the day. He wouldn’t enjoy being left for extended periods of time on his own as he’s so sociable.

Teddy has picked up a new routine well and understands when it’s time to go to bed, and when his foster mum is heading out without him. He takes himself off to bed and can be left for a few hours without issue. He sleeps soundly overnight, but is not 100% housetrained just yet so still needs puppy pads in case of accidents. He also doesn’t like being out in the garden all by himself, and he’s not a fan of the rain either! Welcome to England, little guy!

Teddy loves his walks and has learned to walk really nicely on the lead. He walks alongside other dogs politely, and is friendly towards new dogs that he meets when out and about. He has a cheeky, playful character and always likes to be involved in whatever is going on. He’s enjoyed trips to the pubs, family gatherings, meeting loads of new people and exploring new places. For a tiny dog, he’s taken loads of new things in his stride recently and adapted so impressively well!

Teddy would make a wonderful companion for someone who has a lot of time to spend with a dog and who wants them to be involved in their daily routine as much as possible. He is very sociable and it would be a shame for him to spend a lot of time on his own. Teddy has also been introduced to cats in the home and has not shown any considerable interest, so we think he could live alongside confident resident cats. He is also wonderful with children and would have no issues joining a young family (as long as he wasn’t handled like a toy). There’s no doubt that in the right home Teddy is going to make someone very, very happy!

Teddy is currently based in Chichester and has a clean bill of health. He is ready to meet his new family, but you will need to be able to travel to Chichester to meet him if you’re interested.

Please note, any mention of breed is nothing more than an educated guess based on what we know about the dog, their appearance, behaviour, and common breeds in their country of origin. We can never guarantee breed specifics, nor can we confirm the exact age of our dogs, unless they were born in our care. Age estimations are made by our vets based on the development of the dog, their general health and energy, and assessing their teeth.
