About Tux

Tux came into the shelter after being found on the streets by the dog warden, but we’re sure at some point this gorgeous boy must have had a home. He adores people and is so trusting, friendly and sweet. He’s only around a year old, so he’s very much still a baby and is looking for a loving, active family where he can be showered with attention.

First and foremost, Tux is gorgeous. He has very striking eyes and a soft, chocolate coat, so he stands out among the many hounds and shepherds of the shelter! He has the happiest, smiliest face that lights up the moment a volunteer or staff member arrives, and his tail never stops wagging. His entire back end wiggles when you give him a kind word and he’s always so excited to see people. He also has a very cute tendency to sploot when he lies down, which only adds to his endearing, but slightly daft character.

Without a doubt, Tux’s greatest love is people. He thrives on human connection and is quick to greet strangers with his friendly demeanour. He’s highly sociable and confident, he craves attention and sometimes he will let out a little whine to remind you he’s there! If you’re busy talking or photographing another dog, Tux will lie between your feet until you’re done and gaze up at you so you don’t forget he’s there. In the shelter, where one-on-one time is scarce, he can sometimes be a little bit needy, but in a home where he gets more focus we’re sure this will subside.

Tux shares his kennel with multiple other dogs and generally gets along well with them. While he’s not a dominant character, he isn’t shy about barking back if a bossy dog tries to push him around. He especially enjoys the company of similarly active dogs like Mia, but shows a gentler side when playing with smaller, more reserved pups like Mike and Elvira. Though he would do well in a home with other dogs, Tux is confident enough to be the only dog in the house too.

Being an active and excitable dog, Tux loves being involved in everything that’s happening around him. Once his initial burst of energy wains, he’s perfectly content to relax and chill by himself. Tux’s playful and goofy personality makes him a joy to be around, and while he’s definitely trainable, expect plenty of funny moments along the way! Occasionally there’s only one available brain cell.

Tux would do best in a home where he can get plenty of attention, playtime, and love. He’s great with children, although his bouncy nature might be a bit much for very young kids. With a bit of training and structure, Tux will make an incredibly loving and entertaining companion. Are you ready to welcome this lovable goofball into your life and give him the forever home he deserves?

Tux is currently based in Cyprus and has a clean bill of health. He is ready to travel once he finds his forever home.

Please note, any mention of breed is nothing more than an educated guess based on what we know about the dog, their appearance, behaviour, and common breeds in their country of origin. We can never guarantee breed specifics, nor can we confirm the exact age of our dogs, unless they were born in our care. Age estimations are made by our vets based on the development of the dog, their general health and energy, and assessing their teeth.
